The 60,000 square foot, €50miIIion Parkway Retail Park was officially opened by An Taoiseach, Bertie Ahern during his visit to Limerick last Friday.
The retail park which is an impressive addition to the city's commercial life also presents an enhanced gateway to Limerick.
Mr Ahern who performed the ceremonial cutting of the ribbon toured the facility and greeted members of the public.
Paying tribute to everyone involved in bringing the retail centre to this completed first phase of development, Mr Ahern said the new retail park is the result of investment, teamwork and vision.
"Limerick now has this very welcome development which improves the quality of life for people in the city and also creates 250 full-time jobs on an ongoing basis. This level of jobs and investment certainly is a vote of confidence in the future and the fundamental strength of the economy, which continues to grow ahead of our EU partners."
Local developer, Michael Parkes of joint developers. Parkes Properties said: "we are now introducing a new shopping experience and concept to Limerick. We have been successful in attracting new names and providing the region's shoppers with exciting brand leader outlets. There will be more significant additions as the Parkway Retail Park continues to expand. "
Speaking at the opening, Noel Smyth, chairman, Dunloe Ewart plc said: "we are very proud of the Parkway Retail Park in Limerick capital of the Midwest.
